More $$$$  for bicycling + walking

We did it !

Dateline: late eve Nov. 2 / from Charlotte Observer – “Charlotte voters apparently approved three bond issues on Tuesday’s ballot, according to partial returns.

With votes counted from 117 of the city’s 168 precincts, each of the issues was comfortably ahead. Voters were deciding on three issues with a total cost of $203.6 million.Voters were asked to approve $156.6 million for road and intersection improvements, and for related projects. The work will be spread across much of the city.The referendum was supported by 63 percent of the voters, with 37 percent opposed.”

This means doubling the bike budget ! The total  package includes: $3 million/ traffic calming (like East Blvd.); $15 million / 29 miles of sidewalks; $2 million pedestrian and traffic safety; and $2 million for bicycling.

    At this time the bonds are passing by a comfortable lead. How do we make sure the money is going in the right place and not to a new sports stadium?
