CABA FIELD TRIP TO WEST COAST

Tours of SF Bay + Portland, Ore.

CABA Executive Director, Martin Zimmerman, has returned from a 17 day fact-finding trip in mid-October to San Francisco, Palo Alto (Stanford Univ.), Berkeley, and Davis in northern California as wellas Portland, Oregon. Davis is considered the first US city to embrace the contemporary bicycle movement, and Portland is considered the most “Bicycle Friendly” city in the US according to the League of American Bicyclists (LAB).

Martin met with representatives from public agencies and advocacy groups at each location. He plans to assemble this information into a power point that can be presented to area-wide entities in the business community, government and civic levels. It will also be presented to all attendees at the Annual Planning meeting in January 2009.

I caught up with Martin over burritos in Haight/Ashbury. He is meeting some real bicycle advocate champions and learning a lot. This is a great investment.
